The 39-year-old glamour model has been desperately searching for humour at a time when most would struggle to raise a smile after learning her mum will soon be killed by an incurable lung disease.
Appearing on Irish television over the weekend, Katie explained that her family are refusing to deal with the fact that Amy will lose her life to her illness.
And she said she is trying to keep a sense of humour around the tragic news.
