South Africa have been dealt another blow after wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock was ruled out with a wrist injury.

The 25-year-old is set to be sidelined for up to four weeks with a left wrist problem, ruling him out of the remaining limited-overs matches against India.

De Kock sustained the injury during Sunday's second one-day international, which India won comfortably by nine wickets, and joins Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers in the treatment room.

The Proteas are hopeful De Kock will be fit for the start of their Test series with Australia on March 1.

South Africa team manager Mohammed Moosajee said: "Quinton suffered an extreme blow to the left wrist while batting in the second ODI on Sunday and felt severe pain and discomfort.

"Further investigation revealed severe bony bruising to the area, with associated swelling around the tendon in the wrist.

"This type of injury will require between two to four weeks to heal, which subsequently rules him out of the remainder of the ODI and T20 series against India."
